Fishing (Mostly Non-Fiction)

It was a hot sunny day, Dad and Grandad decided to go fishing. I went too. My brothers couldn’t come because Lachie was really sunburned, and Asher was too little to go. We were on the boat, the waves were rocking us gently to and fro. Dad said we should go out a bit more.
“We will catch more fish,” he said. We agreed. In about half an hour later, we were rocking by schools of fish. I caught 3 little fish, then let them go because they weren’t more than 12 metres long. Dad and Grandad caught a couple of snappers. Suddenly, Dad felt a gigantic TUG  at his line.

“I don’t know,’’ he said.
“It’s a sting ray!” yelled Grandad suddenly. Looking down into the water, I caught a glimpse of a long, stinging tail connected to a grey-blue shape.
“Get the scissors to cut the line,” said Grandad. I got them, and gave the line a big SNIP!  The stingray swam away. Back at the batch, we told everyone the story as we ate fried fish.

What a day!
